My name is Ben O’Grady, I have been a member of the club since the age of six and have worked my way through all of the age groups in the colt section. I presently play both on the colts U16s and the senior club 1st and 2nd teams, I also have been involved in coaching the colts on a Saturday (U10 this year) for the past 3 years. My dad is Paul O’Grady colts section co-ordinator.
I am currently in transition year in Wesley College and have been selected for the Wesley Habitat for Humanity project to Ndola in the copper belt region of northern Zambia. Whilst living on the floors of previously completed HFH homes in the community, utilising basic sanitary facilities and experiencing local cuisine, the team have been charged with completing four houses for children and young adults, who have been orphaned and made vulnerable by the regions HIV and AIDS crisis. We will work in partnership with local people to build each house providing a home for the chosen group, this is habitat's primary programme and is commonly referred to as their overseas programme. This year’s project will be a big challenge from a fundraising perspective as we each have to raise €3000, almost twice the usual amount. These funds will go towards things such as building supplies, tools and machinery, vaccinations, travel costs, basic accommodation and food and water.
I have designed a YMCA beanie hat for the upcoming winter season. They are made from a high quality, soft and comfortable fabric, they have a bobble on top and have the YMCA HC crest embroidered at the front on the flap. These beanies are perfect for all players, both colts and senior members (while warming up, training, playing) and parents while supporting in the freezing cold.
With less than a month until Christmas (!!) these hats are perfect gifts and stocking fillers.
The YMCA beanie will be €12 and all profits will go to my habitat fundraising.
If you wish to place an order for one or more beanies please email me at email@example.com or let myself or my dad know at colts. Please state your name, the number of beanie hats you would like and whether you would like it to be a gift and collected outside the view of your child.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for their support in this endeavour.
