The men's 1s welcomed Rathgar to Wesley, unfortunately I wasn't at the game but I believe it was a tight first half with buckles giving YM the lead. Things began to click in the second half with goals from, Thom Ritchie, Eric Prehn and a worldy from old man Tobin gave the boys 3 points. Fingal up next week.
The men's 2s have had a tough start with Rovers last weekend and Pembroke yesterday both ending in defeat. The 2s trying to find their feet so far but plenty of talent in the side and hopefully everything will click soon. YM 3-6 Pembroke ( Evers, Gabi, sleeman )
The men's 3s following on from a good win against Pembroke last weekend headed to Rathdown to play Monkstown. Unfortunately we lost two players to injury in the warm up!! So cover on the bench was diminished. A good high pace game saw YM find their feet early and create a few chances and the pressure paid off when Charlie followed up a rebound off a corner and blasted it into the net. It remained 1 nil going into the break but Monkstown were well in it
Second half started with Monkstown on the front foot and really it remained that way throughout with YM running out of steam in a very fast paced contest. Shane made some excellent saves but the pressure told and they equalised with 12 minutes remaining. Couple of counter attack chances for YM but all in all 1-1 was a fair result and a good point
The 4s travelled to Enniscorthy for a morning start. Unfortunately they came up against an organised team and went down 3-0. Need a big win next week
5s no game
Ladies 1s started the league off away to the chapets (Rovers). Change of the guard in the club and a fresh looking first team with 2 under 18s in the side, special mention Emma Pichot making her debut. Emma has come through the Colt setup and I'm delighted to see her making the step up.
A tough game but really YM the better side winning many corners and creating plenty of opportunities. New additions to last year Jen Anderson and holly Rankin really have added some quality to the side and hopefully will help push them for promotion this year
Captain Willis scoring the first from a corner switch and I missed it but she knows where the goal is club captain Emma Dixon scored the second. Rovers got one back in the second half to make the scoreline look tighter than it was. Well done girls great start.
The ladies 2s had a 10.30 start in Sutton and continued on the winning streak from last year coming out 1-0 winners with a deflected corner strike from Louise Kennedy.
