All the results from the weekend

March 5th. As the end of season draws near and I sit in with the queen and heir I seem to reflect on the highs and lows and yet again it's been a little of one and a lot of the other. On the other hand I've been nearly 20 years in this club and that's what a club and sport is like, but there is no club like YM and that's got nothing to do with hockey. Anyhooooooo!!!

Men's 3s v naas at 10 am. To be fair the only people this didn't suit was max and Kyle the rest of us were up early or only coming home. A good start in the most open pitch in Leinster when dots got on the end of shot turned cross from Waz.
Opposition players now know not to get in the way of the dots train, because you generally go asleep!!!. The game got a little rough after that which wasn't unexpected but luckily MM smashed home a corner to give us a 2-0 cushion at HT
Second half was very scrappy with a few cards but a super game from J Milne and then Jenks scored and we finally cheered Shane and bish up by beating an side in the second half this year !! Hooray. Thanks to the rup for umpiring. Superstar
Unfortunately monkstown didn't turn up against pembroke in Wembley so we have to play again next week
Goals. MM, Brian, jenks

Men's 4s
Tough trip to the bull ring and without the leader who had a blue book voucher this weekend they headed out needing a win. All was going well as they were leading 2-1 with ten minutes to go. Unfortunately the lads ran out of steam and lost 4-2. 3 games 3 wins required nothing less and they can do it.
Goals: rup, Daniel

Ladies 1s had a tough battle against railway 2s in Wesley and things started well with Suzy hinds grabbing her first of the season (I think) which took a comfortable lead into the second half.
The problem in the second half was again not converting chances and a late Christmas present of cards the umpire hadn't used or maybe it was the first game they officiated !! As 2 YMers were sent off!! Railway to be fair were the dominant team in the second half but certainly got the rub of the green with the first goal that clearly looked like a high first shot from my view in the pavilion ! But luckily enough the second goal was disallowed... So the draw specialists draw. Very tight in div 2 but the girls are performing well and two good results well achievable

Men's 5s had a trek to enniscorthy with 11 players. Never going to be easy but things have turned around under the efforts of Adrian Robinson and the commander. Unfortunately they lost in the last minute which would have been a great point. Club objective is keep building on this great work and push the team up the leagues next year.

Ladies 2s sealed Division 8 against mullingar. 8-0
Great to see Leah a prodigy of the colts holding her own with ease scoring 1 of the goals.
A fantastic effort this season and as I watched with the first team men's coach while the 1s ladies game was parallel I saw how far the gap has been closed between the two squads which I congratulate all involved. The time has come to strengthen and tighten the ladies section so we can push them further and eventually get a 3rds team and more in the future
Las power x 2 ( she is 21 and probably scored her age this year!!!! Wrong pitch me thinks )
AA, rach, Leah, Niamh x 2, eve ( 2 English girls on the scoresheet , so international !! )
