Boys U14 come away with great win

Strong performances all round in friendly

The fearless YM u14's faced Monkstown in a friendly ‘Friday night lights’ clash. The boys made it clear from the start that they do not see this as a friendly encounter.
With the Leinster man Ben O'Grady back to captain the side from the centre midfield position, there were some great passing moves leading to slick movement from the back and midfield and when it got up front Conor gave the defenders a hard time on the left wing with great one touch passes infield to Louis and Samuel.
It was ultimately a performance that was built on a very solid and disciplined defensive effort. Great marking and crunching tackles from the back four- Fionn, Matthew, Sam and Richie. The boys great organisation on defence paid off. Our forwards pressed Monkstown from a free out which resulted in Ben picking up an interception in the middle of the park. He played it to Louis who drew the defenders and gave it back to Ben who just slipped it past the keeper. Beautiful goal, 1-0 to YM.
The second half was dominated by us, but we unfortunately couldn't add more goals. Very positive hockey was played non the less. With Sam and Alex strolling passed the defenders down the right like musicians. A special shout out will have to go to James as it seemed like he was everywhere!
Great performance from the boys that has continued there unbeaten.
