Here's the first newsletter of the new season. I'd like to welcome all the new and returning players to YM this year, especially those travelling from such far flung places as Brazil, South Africa and Australia!
I'll be writing it (for the next few weeks anyway!) and will be looking for some help in regards to match reports, jokes and club news.
First off, I present the club's new logo. The logo was designed by Stephen Walker and we're delighted with the job he's done. The new logo doesn't stray too far from the original because of the history associated with it and now includes the dragon, the symbol of the Ladies' side of the club. This logo will slowly start to appear on new team jerseys soon.
The golf outing was a huge success last weekend, bringing in over €4,000 for the club and it was wrapped up nicely with an Irish win in the rugby afterwards.
Congrats to Daniel Ellison, David Mawhinney and Jack O'Grady on making the Leinster training squad for the upcoming interpros.
Phil Powderly picked up a cool €86 in our RWC Last Man Standing Competition. Thanks to everyone who enetered as we raised €129 from this.

Weston 0-8 M1s
A resounding victory for the M1s in their opening game of the season with goals from Ben Campbell x2, Phil Powderly x2, Eric Prehn, Gabby DeGrandis and Thom Ritchie. More of the same this week please!
UCD 0-3 L1s
L1s unfortuantely went down 3-0 to UCD in the season opener. They'll be striving to get back on track vs. Our Lady's this weekend
Three Rock Rovers 7-1 M2s
Less said about this one the better, I think the M2s would like to move on and put things right this week vs. Pembroke. Cillian Bourke picked up the goal.
UCD 3-1 L2s
The early fixture on Saturday didn't go the L2s way, as they couldn't carry their preseason form into the first game. Las Power scored the goal. They've got the glamour fixture away to Skerries this weekend
Pembroke Wanderers 1-2 M3s
A huge win at the start of the season for the M3s! Waz Armstrong picking up both goals with a captain's performance. From what I hear, they were camped in their own 23 for 80% of the match and Shane Davey, the returning veteran GK, was awarded man of the match for keeping Pembroke to only 1.
Wicklow 1-1 M4s
A good result to start the season, although I know there is dissapointment in not getting the win as we conceded the equaliser on the final whistle. Tim Blythman with the goal.
M5s 2-4 Dublin University
M5s suffered in this game, only having 10 players and being without a regular GK. However they put in a valiant effort and the scoreline flatters Trinity, as I believe it was 3-2 going into the final minutes and were caught on the break looking for he equaliser. Colin Ashmore picked up both goals.
I'll be looking for match reports for all teams next week, so have them prepared!
The colts have been back training for a number of weeks and it's great to see such large numbers out, both on Friday and Saturday. Matches and tournaments start soon.
These players are the future of our club and enourage all senior players to get out and suport our colts or get involved in coaching!
The funny corner
Will return once I find someone much funnier than me to plagarise jokes off.
Very sorry I missed the opening weekend of the season last week, there was some great matches I would've liked to been at (and a crazy social night in Sober Lane ;) ). Can't wait to see all the teams in action this weekend and pick up as many wins as possible.
