Good afternoon Ladies and Gents!
Well it is now only days away from our Koh Dinner and Cocktail event and the anticipation is reaching fever pitch! Doors open at 8pm with a complementary of bubbly for the first 60 people through the door so get there on time to avail. At this stage we have some space left so if you have yet to get your name down, or have other people who would like to come along please get in touch. For those of you who weren't there last year, Koh is located in Dublin's Italian Quarter,6 - 7 Jervis Street Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1. I look forward to seeing you all there.
This weekend we also all have some on-pitch business to attend to - lets hope for positive results all round that we can celebrate on Saturday night!
The Menís 1st XI are playing away to Clontarf at 12.30 on Saturday; 'Tarf recorded their first win in the league this season last weekend with a 5-4 win over UCD, but with YM in fine goal scoring form following their 5-5 draw to Railway lets hope that we can come away with the 3 points we badly need.
The 1sts are scheduled to play the Russian national hockey team in a warm up match for the Olympic Qualifiers in Alex on the evening of Wednesday March 7th. This is a great opportunity for the lads to play some top class opposition and should be a brilliant match to watch. I encourage you all to try and make it down to Alex to support the lads.
With the loss of John Dible to Australia the Menís 1sts are once again in need of a manager to help head coach Stephen (Bogger) Barry run the sideline. If anyone in the club would be willing and able to help out with this please get in touch.
The Ladies 1sts shaky form continued last weekend as they shot themselves in the foot with a foolish loss on Saturday to Genesis 2nds, throwing away the chance to regain top spot in Div 4. (Can you sense the bitterness?) Some pride was restored on Sunday however when they came out the victors with a 2-1 win over Alex 3rds. This weekend they have a must win clash against 3rd position Suttonians who will be out for blood as they too vie for promotion to Division 3.
Following their unfortunate loss to Annadale in the Irish Junior Cup our Menís 2nds team will be fully focused on climbing the ranks in Div 3 when they play Dublin University this Saturday in Three Rock. This game tips off at 3.45.
The Ladies 2nds played a double header last weekend and recorded a great 4-0 win on Saturday over Muckross 4ths. This win keeps them in contention for 2nd place and promotion to Division 10 but they have to win all of their remaining matches. Things didnít work out so well on Sunday as they were unfortunate to lose 2-0 to a strong Avoca side in the semi finals of the Div 11/12 Cup. The teams name is already on this cup from last season though so itís all about promotion from here on in!
This weekend they take on Dalkey 2nds at home in Claremont Rd at 12.15 Ė the ladies need a ref for this match so if anyone can oblige please get in touch.
With last weekend Menís 3rds match against N.Kildare postponed the lads remain at the top of Div 5 even with a game in hand. This weekend they travel to Weston for a top of the table clash which tips off at 3.15 Ė best of luck to Andy and the lads in this really important game!
The 4ths also continue to sit atop their league and now have a comfortable 8 point lead over nearest rivals Athy following their 3-2 win over Corinthian 4ths last weekend. This Sat they travel to the Royal College of Surgeons to take on St. Brendans Phoenix Park at 2pm. Keep up the good work lads.
Finally, the Menís 5ths did themselves proud against Fingal last weekend, they came secondÖbut I hear that they gave them a run for their money nonetheless! They play away to Pembroke at 1pm this Saturday in a bottom of the table clash Ė lets hope the lads can cement their 10th place spot and keep Pembroke in 11th!
Good luck to everyone this weekend and I will see you in Koh for celebrations on Saturday night!
