Congratulations to the Mens 1sts who hosted a very successful Race Night in the Dropping Well last night, big thanks to Bogger for organising and Trevor for MCing on the night, and to everyone who bought a horse/jockey or sponsored a race. Well done to Phil Marshall who won the big race of the night.
The next club fund raiser is Sat April 2nd with the ladies event in Koh Restaurant and Cocktail Bar. See the events page for more details on what should be a brilliant night!
YMCA Colts are hosting an Under 10 Tournament in Claremont Road this Sunday from 12 until 2. We need four volunteers to help with the running of the tournament - umpiring (not too difficult with U10's) and marking out mini pitches, making up goodie bags etc. As I have mentioned before the future success of our club is dependent on our colts section. Peter and Kate Chadwick do a massive amount of work for the club so please give just 2 hours of your time to help them out. If you can help out let Peter know on 086 2565899.
This weekend the Ladies 1sts have a massive game as they travel to Limerick to take on Limerick HC in the semi finals of the Irish Hockey Challenge Cup. Limerick have not lost a match all season so this will be a real test for the Dragons who are hoping to keep the dream of winning the cup three years in a row alive.
The Mens 1sts have a busy time ahead of them with 4 matches in the next 10 days:
Thurs 3rd v TRR 7pm (Old Alex)
Sat 5th v Railway 4:30pm (Old Alex)
Tues 8th v Corinthians 7pm (Old Alex)
Sat 12th IHL v Instonians 3pm (Old Alex)
At this stage of the season every match is crucial and none more so than the IHL match on next Saturday against Inst. As I said last week all support will be needed for this match! We are also having a club night in the Dropping Well following that game so I hope to see lots of you then.
Last Sunday saw a great match in Claremont Road as the YM 3s played YM 4s in the Quarter Final of their cup. It was a really good game to watch with some great hockey being played by both sides. The 4ths were 2-1 up at half time and it looked like they were going to hold onto that lead until Mark Jenkinson scored a cracking reverse stick goal for the 3s to even the game. This brought the game to extra time when the 3rds managed to dig deep and secure the win. Lets hope this is a turning point for the 3s as the fight is on to avoid relegation from Division 5.
This weekend the 3rds take on Avoca in Newpark at 3.15 while the 4ths play Three Rock in Claremont Road at 3pm. The 6ths continue the hunt for that ever elusive win at 1.30pm on Saturday in Claremont Road also against Three Rock.
On Sunday the Ladies 2nds take on Botanic in Claremont Road at 3pm - having beaten league leaders Avoca last weekend the girls are now in 2nd place in Div 12 and are tied for points with 2 other teams. Lets hope they can keep up their winning form and get that promotion.
Heres hoping for a weekend of wins all round!
