Firstly a reminder that the YMCA Race Night is being held this coming Wednesday (2nd March) in The Dropping Well at 8pm. Those who have been to a race night before will know that it will be a really fun night so please show your support to the club and make it down to the Dropper. If you would like to buy a horse or jockey or even sponsor a race please contact Bogger at email@example.com or anyone else on the Mens 1sts.
On the pitch last weekend was a very successful one for the club with all but one team securing wins.
The Mens 1sts had a great match with a 6-2 win over Fingal - congrats to Johnny Bruton for scoring a hat trick and Marcus, Jamie and Robbo for scoring one a piece. No match for the lads this weekend but they will be training in preparation for their big IHL match on March 12th against Instonians in Old Alex. This is a crunch game so yet again all support will be needed.
Unfortunately the Mens seconds didnt fare as well last weekend going down 5-4 to Fingal - this Saturday they take on Railway at 1.30 in Old Alex and will be hoping for a more positive outcome than their last encounter!
The Mens 3rds got a great win last weekend, coming out 2-1 against Monkstown who currently lie second in their division. This should give the lads the boost they need going into their cup match against YM 4ths this coming Sunday! On Saturday they play Corinthians at at 10.30 in Colombus.
The Mens 4ths should also be feeling confident following their 3-2 win against Glenanne last weekend. They too have a double this weekend, playing away to Trinity at 11 in Three Rock on Saturday. Sundays big YM derby cup game is on in Claremont Road at 1pm - this is a game that should draw the crowds! Best of luck to both teams - lets have a good clean fight now!
The 6ths play away to North Kildare this Sat at 1.50pm - perhaps the ever elusive win awaits them there.
Last weekend was a big one for both our Ladies teams. The 1sts took on Clontarf who were snapping at our heels for the top spot in the 5th Division. Congrats to captain Tabby who only able to play the first half managed to score all our three goals before heading off! Things got a little nasty in the second half and resulted in a yellow card for coach Will - shame on him! The final score of 3-1 strengthened our lead in the Division. Our 2-0 win on Sunday against Trinity further cemented our position.
The Ladies take on Pembroke tomorrow at 2pm in Claremont Road in our final match before travelling to Limerick next weekend for the IHC Semi Finals against Limerick HC.
The Ladies 2nds also had a great win on Sat with a 3-0 win over Tullamore which allowed them to leapfrog over them in the league and keep them in contention for promotion. Their game tomorrow against league leaders Avoca is yet another must win for the team.
Details of the ladies fundraiser will shortly be available in the events section of the website. Keep the evening of Sat April 2nd free for a great night of dinner and cocktails in Koh Restaurant.
Good luck to all playing this weekend and hopefully see you all next Wednesday eve in the Dropping Well.
