Following a disappointing loss against Lisnagarvey last weekend the Mens 1sts have another massive game coming up this Saturday as they travel to Cork to take on Cork Harlequins in the Irish Hockey League. A positive result from this game is essential to keep EHL hopes alive, so if anyone fancies a trip to Cork Im sure the lads would be most grateful for any support on the day!
There are some great photos in the photos section of the website of the Lisnagarvey match - thanks to Jason Milne for the pics and Jules for uploading. If anyone else has photos from games or club events that you'd like to see on the website please forward to me or anyone on the committee and we'll get them put up.
The rest of the club fared better in their cup endeavors last weekend with the Ladies 1sts getting back to form with a convincing 4-0 win over Annadale in the Irish Hockey Challenge. This sets them up for a 1/4 final game away to Tipperary on Feb 13th. This weekend they play away to Guinness in the league on Saturday at 2pm.
Both the Mens 3rds and 4ths also triumphed in their respective cup games meaning that they will face each other on Sunday Feb 27th in a game that should draw the crowds! In the run up to that game the 3rds take on James Gate in Claremont at 12.15 on Sat while the 4ths play away to Skerries at 12.30.
The Ladies 2nds are also on form at the moment and won convincingly last weekend 4-1 against Trinity. This weekend sees them face Navan in a must win game in Claremont at 3pm.
The 6ths unfortunately lost out to Pembroke last weekend and will be hoping to save face with a win against Glenanne this Sunday in St.Marks at 1.30.
It is now the turn of the Mens 1sts to organise a club fundraiser - they are planning to host a Race Night in the Dropping Well towards the end of this month - date to be confirmed. It would be brilliant to see the same levels of support for their night as the 2nds had for the quiz last week. More details to follow on this!
