YM Newsletter Oct 12th 2010

Tue 12th Oct 2010

A massive congratulations to our Mens 1st XI who triumphed last Saturday (Oct 9th) in the clubs first ever Irish Hockey League match 2-1 against Monkstown! Everyone who was there will agree that it was a brilliant game to watch and I don’t think I am being biased when I say that the right team won on the day.

Stand out players included Phil Marshall and Jonny Bruton who proved their worth by scoring the YM goals but it really was a team effort so well done to the whole lot of you!

Big thanks to John Dible, Philip Robinson, Amy Armstrong and Sian Powderly who helped out with the organisation of the day, and to Vinno who wrote the match report which can be found on the IHL website here: http://www.irishhockeyleague.ie/fixture-details.aspx?id=8224771

There was a strong turn out on Saturday night in the Dropping Well and a great atmosphere - I think it is safe to say that fun was had by all! I propose making such evenings a regular event throughout the season!

The first round draw of the YM Lotto also took place and the winners drawn were:

Barry Manders (€300)
Philip Margetson (€100)
Stu Cinnamond (€50)
Stephen Barry (€50)

Congratulations to this months winners– there are still five draws to take place so for anyone who missed out it is not too late to enter. The date of the next round draw will be announced in the coming weeks so stay posted to find out! A massive thanks goes to Andrew Walker and Amy Armstrong who have put a lot of work into organising the Lotto.

Congrats also go to the Ladies 1sts and Mens 3rds who won their respective matches last Saturday. The 4ths scored a point with a 2-2 draw against Corinthian 4ths to take an early lead in the 6th Division - well done lads! Hard luck goes to the Mens 5th who lost by an unfortunate 6 goals to 0 against a spritely UCD 3rds.

Next on the agenda will be our annual dinner – we are hoping to set a date for this in the coming weeks - if anyone would be willing to help with the organisation side of things for this please let me know!
