Fri 1st Oct 2010

Firstly, congratulations to the Mens 1st XI who romped home with a 5-0 win over Weston in their first league match last Saturday. Certainly a promising start to the season, lets hope they can keep up that form in their Neville Cup quarter final match against Railway on Sunday. This match is on at 3pm in Railway Union and will be a good warm up for the lads inaugural IHL game - which as you should know by now is next Saturday October 9th in Alex against Monkstown at 3pm.

Again I would urge as many people as possible to get down to Alex on the 9th to support the lads. Donít forget the social following the game in the Dropping Well pub which includes the first draw of the YM Lottery (still time to enter!)

I would like to welcome our final two new Australian club mates Marcus and Phil who arrived in the country this week, lets hope they have a great (and successful) season playing for the Y!

This week sees the start of the season proper with the Ladies 1sts and 2nds and Mens 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths starting off their respective league campaigns. Click on the Upcoming Fixtures tab to the left to see times and locations of these games.

Currently we still have no captains in place for the Mens thirds or fifths teams. It is imperative that people step up to the plate to take on these roles Ė there isnít a lot involved so if you are in a position to take it on please do so. Please donít leave it to someone else!

We are also in need of a goal keeper for the mens fifths team Ė if you know of a suitable keeper who might like to join please encourage them to do so.

On a minor note there will be no parking in Alexandra College next Tuesday evening (5th Oct). Please do not attempt to drive into the school, people can park on Temple Road behind the pitches and access the grounds via the pedestrian entrance.

Code of Ethics Course
There is a code of ethics course being run next Wednesday 6th October in the Sports Pavilion in Wesley from 6.30 sharp to 10.30 (late arrival is not an option.) This is being run for YMCA only so we need to get as many club members as possible. You cannot coach U18s without this so coaches plus anyone with a U18 on their team must attend.

Good luck to everyone playing this weekend, and donít forget to keep the 9th of October free to support the Mens 1st XI in their IHL match.
